Hall of Fame
What Is the Hall of Fame?

Recognizing athletic prowess
Have you ever wondered what your classmates accomplished after graduating from Powell? What contributions have former Powell Panthers made for their community, their families, nation or the world?
The Principal of the present Powell High School has spent a lot of time wondering! And the Board of Directors of the newly formed Powell High School Dreams Foundation has been very curious as well. That is how the Hall of Fame was born.

Panther Award
PHS already had experienced principal, Ken Dunlap’s interest in showcasing the honors and accomplishments of Powell Panthers. Just take a look at the entrance to the school and surrounding hallways where students and teachers have places of honor.
The Hall of Fame is being created to recognize special Powell Panthers of the past. Their pictures will be displayed at the school to encourage today’s students. The Hall will highlight their accomplishments and life contributions. The hope is that young Panthers, whether freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors, will be motivated by awesome Panther Famers honored in the Hall of Fame.

Honoring the historic past of Powell Panthers over the years
So how does one become a Hall of Fame nominee? The Board of Directors in conjunction with Ken Dunlap, current principal, and other staff members, has established the following criteria for receiving the honor. The criteria are:
- The person nominated must be a graduate of Powell High School.
- The person nominated must have been out of high school for ten or more years.
- The nominees accepted for consideration must have made very important life contributions in areas such as:
- Agriculture and Land Management
- Arts and Music
- Athletics and Recreation
- Business
- Child Care and Family
- Community Involvement
- Construction and Development
- Education
- Environment and Society
- Medicine
- Military
- Politics and Government
- Science and Mathematics
- Other Areas Accepted
Nominees will be evaluated by a committee appointed by the Foundation Board of Directors and chosen for induction into the Hall of Fame once a year. A celebration of the annual Hall of Famers will be held each fall inducting each new honoree.
Nominees are now being accepted for review. More than one Hall of Famer may be honored each year according to decisions by the Hall of Fame committee. In the Inaugural year of 2010 the Board plans to honor 25 graduates of Powell High School as the first set of Hall of Famers.
A Hall of Fame banquet and presentation is planned for October, 2010. Families, friends, former Panther classmates, past teachers, and current school staff will be encouraged to attend the celebration. More information will be forthcoming soon. Watch this web site for details!
Who will the Famers be for 2010? Whose pictures will grace the display of the initial Hall of Fame? The answers are in your hands. Please nominate your heroes!
